Apple Picking

We went apple picking this year. This is something that i’ve always wanted to do and we looked forward to it for weeks. Some good friends of ours recommended Applewood Orchards in Warwick, NY so we rented a car and headed up. It was about an hour and 15 minutes outside of the city and our city kids did really well sitting in their carseats for that long.

It was a chilly, rainy day, which as we learned, isn’t the ideal weather for picking apples in an orchard. Remembering to wear our rain boots would’ve helped significantly with the mud factor, but oh well! Violet didn’t seem to mind and in fact she was super excited about the whole adventure.

Her feet were wet but she didn’t seem to mind at all.

It was an early harvest this year so we had to ride on a trailer, pulled by a tractor to get to the back part of the orchard where there were more trees with apples to be picked.

Once we got up to where the good picking was Violet couldn’t wait to get started. Here’s some pics from the day:

Once we had filled our bags we jumped on the trailer and headed back to the general store for some doughnuts and hot cider, yum!

On the weekends they have a puppet show for the kids. Violet enjoyed watching it for a few minutes before it was time to go.

They also had some bunnies and Violet wanted to hold one so badly but they we were only allowed to look, not touch :(

We bought lots of doughnuts, jam and cider to bring home. We had such a fun time and i’m already excited to go next year. The kids wore themselves out completely so they slept most of the way home :)

What a fun way to spend a saturday with my 3 favorite people. We enjoyed eating apples and especially the apple crisp we made the next day. So delicious! Yay for Fall

Such cute pictures! Looks like a fun day. Nothing like a good apple off the tree. Can’t believe how big the babies are getting :)
